John Beaton (pronounced VAIL-on-core) writes fiction rooted in real emotion, high stakes, and the quiet strength of ordinary people facing extraordinary challenges.
Born in Michigan and raised in California, David brings a breadth of life experience to the page. His journey has taken him across countries and through varied roles—from infantry and air defense artillery in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army, to years spent living abroad. With service postings ranging from Alaska to Vietnam, David’s military background adds authenticity and emotional weight to the conflict and character dynamics in his novels.
For decades now, he has made his home in the English countryside near Yorkshire, where he writes with his loyal Finnish Lapphund, Hugo, always close by.
In all his work, David explores themes of courage, quiet heroism, and the lingering power of the past.
John is the author of two novels:
